A Little Extension

installation

octobre 2011

This project is done in the spirit of Andy Goldsworthy's ephemeral art.
We tried to put ourselves in the same kind of context and state of mind he is in when he works.

Even though we had many ideas prior getting to work with nature, we knew the final gesture would be defined through the work, in the same way Goldsworthy's inspiration comes to him.
The strip system is based on tying two leaves together and making holes for the next tied duo to attach to the previous one. The strip was a shape that offered the best balance between nature and man-made. We attached them to a dead tree nearby, giving it one more season, one little extension.

We only brought back leaves to the tree, without using anything but the inner strength of the leaves and their tails. The strip is also the the falling leave's trajectory, between branch and ground, frozen in time. Only for a short period as even they will fall from the tree and everything will look like it used to be, leaving no trace of our presence or work.
